Headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, America’s Top Dog Model ® Contest is a national search for “top dogs that make a difference." The contest mission is to celebrate dogs that make a difference in people’s lives.
To celebrate this election year, America's Top Dog Model 2016 contest theme was "Meet the Paw-litician." Contestants were selected for their leadership qualities and best portrayal of their favorite politician, including presidents, first ladies, and prominent political figures, past and present. Contestants could also be original, and develop their very own Paw-litician to introduce to America.
America's Top Dog Model 2016 national winner, is Pearl, an adorable Pomeranian rescue, from White Bear Lake, Minnesota and Lantana, Florida. Eleven national paw-litical finalists were also selected.
Pearl's winning contest entry, reveals her heartfelt story about rescue from a horrendous puppy mill and why she feels a kinship to Abraham Lincoln.
Pearl identifies
with Abe Lincoln due to his belief of freedom and his love of animals. Abe
wrote, "I care not for a man's religion whose dog or cat is not the better for
it... I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights..."Pearl has become an excellent role model for
rescue dogs and she is em"barking" on a campaign to promote humane
treatment. Pearl will be officially crowned America's Top Dog
Model 2016 at this event and lead the fashion show. America's Top Dog Model 2017
calendar cover pup, Peaches, a therapy dog from Lake Worth, Florida, will
also star in this event, along with past winners and finalists. Fashions for people and
pups, will feature styles from shops in the Via Amore courtyard.
